Hi, I operate in the East Midlands area, based in a village just outside Wellingborough. I currently busk in Wellingborough, Rushden, Kettering, Olney, Towcester, Northampton and Daventry. The busking policies of the various council bodies seems a bit fragmented. I was handed a 'Busking Policy' letter in Daventry the other day, I've downloaded the same for Kettering just now. Both seem to be common sense to me. Don't play too loud, don't play for too long in the same location, be mindful of others. Simples!

Hi Paul,

It would be great if you could you post a hyperlinks to Kettering's policy on the East Midland's site for other members. Would you say that the busking in the East Midland's area is good? i.e. are the local residents receptive and are local council's supportive? As far as you are aware, do any of the places you mention demand that buskers and street performers have a license before they perform?

Best,
Christian

Hi Paul, I'm doing a gig this weekend in Northampton and intend busking during the day on either Sat or Sun or both. Anything I should know about the rules? I have 2 acts, both amplified using backing, one as a swing/easy listening singer the other as a solo instrumental (Shadows style) guitarist. I'm pretty careful over volume levels and never play in 1 spot more than an hour at a time and don't repeat numbers. I usually avoid being too close to other buskers & sound sources.

Any comments welcome.

Cheers, Brian.
